... As well as CCHR documentaries, Ray Nimmo's benzo.org.uk website and what appears to be his promotion of Dr. Peter Breggin. I.e., I'm going to make a lot of enemies today. I'm not here to be popular or well-liked. I'm just sooo tired of the online quackery.
I said the next blog was going to be about Woo Age/New Age quackery. Instead, you can read about alternative meds, "light" and "vibrations" here. It's gooey-woo. Don't get stuck.
So... Benzoids, weird 'religions', 'political groups', stalkers and the occasional random visitor... I think it's time to let you know that I won't be blogging nearly as much. My life is insanely busy and I assume it will continue to be so for the next 6 months to 1 year. I've met some great, interesting people, and I've hopefully met the craziest people I'll *never* come across again.
When I think about the "Input-Output" Model in a non-economical way, the rational thing to do would be to not blog much anymore. I like to write... I like medicine... But once the ratio of the I/O Method becomes reversed, it calls for a re-prioritization.
There's also an element of "If you're so damn curious, get the information yourself" that I often think about. It does often take me hours to days to research things and write about them. I have "tools" that most people don't know exist to gather information-- that's my only "one-up" on Google stalking/researching that others do not have. They're available to the public, totally free of charge, legal-- if you know where to look. And I've always been snoopy. (Trust me, it's a trait I wish I didn't have.)
I just wanted to be just one more rational voice for the world to hear. Damn woo. I don't think it's "winning" in mainstream medicine, but it owns the internet. There are way better, and WAY more popular bloggers out there: Orec and Pharyngula to name a few. And of course I can't forget my favorites, Dr. Steven Barret of Quackwatch and Dr. Novella. We're all saying the same things. And we're all harassed by Grade A Nuts. They're MD's. They get paid well for their actual careers and I assume take funding via blogging. I'm a med-school dropout with Narcolespy who doesn't get paid. Not that I ever wanted to. I wanted/want two things: For people to think for themselves and apply logic... To avoid woo, as well as avoid getting hurt by it. And it's free. Nothing expected or implied from you. All you have to do is suffer through my too often verbose ramblings (pure hell, I know!) and maybe, just maybe, think for yourselves and question the agendas of others. Of everything, really.
I'm just one small, tiny, and mostly unheard voice out there in a land full of people who are hyper-focusing on their symptoms/problems/things they think are problems (not healthy) and then taking the words of Dr. Oz, Dr. Breggin, other kooks and benzo "experts" as the truth and the only truth (just plain moronic; it's a cult-trait as well).
If I've done a *single thing*, I hope I outed and banned CCHRvideos documentaries propaganda from innocently being shared on BB forever. While the "Big Bloggers" can't focus on one topic, I can. I love documentaries, and I watched a few when I was in what I consider to be a cold-turkey taper (two weeks to withdrawal someone from 10mgs+ of Xanax...Sigh). I wasn't watching credits or noticing trends and the same names appearing over and over during that time. I knew something was off, and that the data they gave didn't add up. "Where's the science and why does this seem creepy?" were questions I did ask when I didn't know who made two documentaries I watched at the time.
The documentaries seemed to have a goal, and not a good one either. I really am a huge documentary fan, and most documentaries are interesting and educational. Some are promotional, but only in the sense of "Look what's going on, people should know about this!", but there is never any money behind those. (Or that creepy feeling you get when you know something is just not right.) I think it's inherently and horribly wrong to aim anti-psychiatry films at a fragile audience, all while seeming helpful and innocent. That's exactly what the bastards at CCHR do (but it seems as if they haven't had much success getting docs "out there" since Anonymous exposed them). It all comes down to mental illness denialism-- Not cool. It's a very vile way for a money-driven cult to spread its weird, crackpot concealed lies and actual purpose through. So, if anything can be claimed as good, it would be that. So far, so good. When/if Colin leaves BB, I hope his replacement does the same.
However... I'm still waiting for benzo.org.uk to get the anti-psychiatry statements of of its website. Namely, Peter Breggin's quotes. I'm fairly sure that Mr. Nimmo knows I want them taken down. I've heard that he did not/does not know about Breggin's (allegedly "past") association with Scientology and that "perhaps he just liked the quotes". Who knows. I have never spoken with the man myself. Our sites are "linked" as benzo.org.uk is always a top search that leads people here, so he must get the same results. I understand that Ray Nimmo may never have been told that benzos could be addictive. I still ask-- and it sounds harsh-- where is the self-responsibility? Even if no one ever told me that they could be addictive, I would have realized it at some point, and rather quickly. I don't think that his story is mainstream, so I must also ask why the UK government is being summoned to answer questions and be expected to change public laws, based on Nimmo's story and and others like his? It's the anti-psychiatry agenda which Nimmo appears to have at his site that I dislike. For whom does the following quote help? And I ask that question, highlighting "the majority, or the minority?", so keep that in mind.

From: http://www.benzo.org.uk/kwotez.htm; Obtained 2/14/2013
I believe that Ray Nimmo has an agenda, and it's personal. I'm not saying that it's wrong for him to feel that way, but to compel the UK government to put a limited prescribing guideline on benzos based on the minority is wrong. I've been wanting to compose a blog directly to Nimmo, so I'll leave it at that for now.
..................................................................................................................................
I like challenges, but I get irritated that I don't have the time or energy to spend on something I said I would complete. I don't like to leave things undone. In one recent blog, I wrote the following:
*Why did Skyy/Jellybean/Noa get her RN license suspended at least 1-2x? "Detective" Banana knows why and has government documentation. I sure hope BW.org has re-thought the 1-800-Dial- A-Nurse plan.
I have no idea what went on in anyone's lives, nor do I care if they were arrested or whatever the stories are. I don't pass moral judgements on others for getting arrested in most cases. (with the obvious exceptions like murder, rape, child abuse, etc.)
I would also never judge anyone for self-medicating a legitimate problem. MD's are busy. They make mistakes. Sometimes they under-medicate people or make false judgements as they're only human, and they don't want to create opiate addicts. Sadly, due to this fear of being accused of causing iatrogenic addiction and false/subjective information put into a patient's medical file, the patient never receives the care that they should. Sometimes, people end up having to self-medicate. It's rare, but it's not that rare. So when I release the following document, I want it to be clear that I am not shaming nor humiliating Skyy for why her RN license was suspended and I expect any readers to do the same, as we don't know the story.
I know it's difficult to read. If you open it, it should be easier to read. I can barely make out the years.
A) Seems to state: Skyy's nursing license was suspended for 2 years for "diverting Demerol from her employer". Diverting a medication usually means " the use of prescription drugs for recreational purposes - 'diverting' of legally obtainable drugs into illegal channels, or the acquiring or obtaining of a controlled substance by an illegal method".1 This is usually for personal use and not to sell them to others. Doctor-shopping is also considered drug diversion. Skyy sought help for Major Depression, after the death of her fiance, and also sought "voluntarily treatment" in Texas.
B) Seems to state that she diverted Demerol again from an employee, and if I'm reading the date correct, in 1985, a year after incident A), also in Texas.
C) I can't make out the year, but California revoked Skyy's license based on the previous Texas incident(s).
D) Skyy "relapsed with drugs prescribed to her" in 1993 and sought treatment again.
No comment from me. I have no idea if Skyy had mitigating factors/physical pains going on in her life which constituted for the "drug" use, and in D), the medication she was Rx'd was not mentioned.
.....................................................................................................................................
I'm not sure who wrote the following at BW.org, but I don't think it was Donna, as she calls "the other blogger" "Scott", not "Mike", but who knows. It was obviously a Mod who was vetting others, so I'm guessing Marie or Donna. It was sent anonymously, so I can't guarantee anything. My words are in brackets:
"I think Noa [Skyy on BB; Jillybean/Noa on BW] has been on here a lot lately, and she has spoken to me abouther [sic] relationship to Mike, which is that he was supportive of her over at the old BW, and she might talk to him once or twice a year, but she hasn't and doesn't intend to tell him about her membership here. She seems like she is committed to doing good and helping people, at least in the discussions we've had. I touched base with her to tell her I had been on travel and was sort of out of it. I'm going to contact her now so we can get started on vetting."
Is this Area 59 vetting? We should ask Alex Jones to investigate and trespass on this unknown area!

*What's up with Jana Hill's secret dual-milk titration patent? Well, it's not that secret... Jana isn't her name (nor is the one recently mentioned on BB). It's quack-tastic and sooo wrong. I'm not so sure a 70+ year old woman should be (badly) attempting organic chemistry and telling people to mix benzos with ethanol and grapefruit juice in their 10000 mcg/microgram (or was it nanogram?) per year taper. I.e., don't trust someone who misreads a simple PI sheet.
Who is this secret patent "microtaper" woman? She used to be a BB Mod years ago, if I recall correctly. I think her BB member name was simply "Jana". Jana is the owner of http://www.benzodetoxrecovery.com. Jana, Julian, WHAT IS YOUR NAME?!
Hmm, should I?

From: http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2010/020/2/5/The_Mad_Scientist_in_Me_Says_by_crayoncurrency.png
Here she goes by the name of Juliana. Circa 2007: "Julianna" (not real name) takes advice from someone who calls Trazodone a "newish tricyclic antidepressant", even though it's been around for about 60 years, and available in the US for more than 30 years. It's also not a TCA-- it's a Serotonin antagonist and reuptake inhibitor (SARI), and it's typically given for insomnia these days, not depression.
"Does this mean that my trazodone(600mg) plus Effexor(150mg) plus Xanax(1mg) was an experiment? I wasn't sure. How about adding Seroquel, 600mg for simple insomnia?...Was I depressed? Yes, multiple benzos had caused depression...I stopped this nonsense years ago. I just want to know who was using me."-- Juliana
That's a HUGE dose of Trazodone. (That's a loony bin/inpatient dose.) That's also quite a dose for Seroquel. For "simple insomnia"? Uhhm, riiiiiight. She takes the advice from the tin-foil-hat nutter who tells her "it was just some guess the shrink made and tried out on you, and never mind you as a human being, he's just playing around." "Juliana" appears to be okay with feeling "used" and drugged". I can't say this is person is, in fact, Jana Hill. The "tools" used match, but-- who knows.

Here someone with an the exact same user name makes a post, again in 2007, talking about organized crime, and how she's not allowed to have access to her telephone records which "would have proved that a person committed a crime against" her, and how the police need the records to file the report, and as she has no access to them... Uh, what? I don't know what it has to do with organized crime, or why her phone company wouldn't give her the records. The police can get them if you ask them to/actually permit them to. This. Makes. No. Sense.
In 2008, this same person talks about unknowingly drinking radioactive water from nuclear medicine patient's "decisions", nuclear medicine freaks, and... hold your breath: "Drugs are absorbed and most are changed in the liver to water soluble forms so that they can be excreted in the urine. Some drugs are excreted directly but all are first absorbed into the blood stream. That's where urine comes from, blood." In my typical style... WTF?! It's not "technically" wrong. The kidney's filter waste from blood via their 2 million nephrons. But that's not all, by any means. The substances that the body needs, like salt and sugar, get reabsorbed. The waste does not. It's worded terribly. It's not a 1-step process: http://www.merckmanuals.com/home/kidney_and_urinary_tract_disorders/biology_of_the_kidneys_and_urinary_tract/kidneys.html .

The business is "Marian Bradley Kennedy Partnership Lllp". Ah. Here we seem to get Jana's likely name. Julie K. (Kennedy) Hill.
Cute! And now we know where the name "Julian" listed as the patent's owner in the patent comes from:
From: http://www.spokeo.com/search?q=julie+hill,+Boulder,+CO&sns8=t30#:4972709281
Odd that Julie/Jana and Julian both have the same middle name of Kennedy, or is it just me?
Associated People: Christine A Hill, Marian Kennedy, Barbara S Kennedy
Stalking is creepy... So her real name appears to be Julie Kennedy Hill, and she's 72 years old.
And... Well, it's no wonder why people have 14 different screen names!
I assume below is Colin's critique of Hill's "method". I don't have a BB account, but his writing style is easy to pick up on, UK spelling and all. BB members can correct me if I am wrong if another verbose, UK-spelling BB member wrote this. I find it hilarious, and pretty accurate. The last sentence makes me giggle.

The business is "Marian Bradley Kennedy Partnership Lllp". Ah. Here we seem to get Jana's likely name. Julie K. (Kennedy) Hill.
Cute! And now we know where the name "Julian" listed as the patent's owner in the patent comes from:

Snippets:
It seems that Jana Hill (for some reason in the name of 'Julian Hill') has
a provisional patent (I understand this means that she has a year to
further investigate the patent before applying for a full patent, but her
ideas are protected in the interim): TREATMENT TOOL AND METHOD OF GRADUAL WITHDRAWAL FROM BENZODIAZEPINE DEPENDENCY. Hill used to call her method 'dual titration' (or was that another method - I do not not know for sure because the details were 'secret'). I carried out a few searches for 'dual titration' a few years ago for an explanation - nothing turned up. Beyond
those few cursory searches, I made no inquiries regarding her method. If
the details are 'secret', I'm sure I can't be bothered to dedicate time
and effort trying to work out what it is supposed to be about. Not least
because I assumed it to be 'obvious' and/or flawed.
I cannot stress how unnecessary it is to taper off at such incredibly slow
rates (100 days to reduce your dose by 1mg diazepam). And worse, reduce
the taper rate even further when the daily dose falls below 5mg diazepam
per day. Let's extrapolate the total period for a diazepam taper, starting
at 20mg/day. 20 to 5mg, typically (as suggested in the patent details)
would be tapered at a rate of 1mg every 100 days. That's 1,500 days. If we
assume that the final 5mg is tapered at half this rate, that's 1mg every
200 days. So, a total of 2,500 days to quit 20mg diazepam - that's nearly
7 years!. Of course, some people take much larger doses than 20mg
diazepam.
I also note that Hill suggests the use of quite specific amounts of
grapefruit juice to correct a dosing error, without mention of the
magnitude of the dosing error, or, worse, the direction of the error. In
any case, such 'corrections' using grapefruit juice are completely
unnecessary and potentially dangerous.

[0039] Ethanol can be used to make a solution of Diazepam or
Alprazolam. The amounts to create a useable solution are about 0.19 mL
ethanol per 1.0 mg of Diazepam, 1.6 ml ethanol per 1.0 mg Alprazolam.
Water can be added to the ethanol solutions to produce the right
strength. Water is a suitable solvent for Chlordiazepoxide. A strength
of 1.0 mg Chlordiazepoxide to 40.0 mL water allows a reduction of
0.125 mg in 5.0 mL of the benzo-water solution. Water may be used
which is warm to the touch to make aggregated Chloriazepoxide crystals
more available for dissolving in water. If an error occurs in mixing
or using the liquid preparation, the use of about 1.0 to 3.0 ounces
grapefruit juice has been shown to reverse the problem, and can be
done one time for each episode. GFJ reverses the effects of CYP
enzymes because GFJ is a CYP 450 inhibitor.

Hehe... I think only UK men can say hackneyed and get away with it. That was hilarious.
It is also worth pointing out that it is beyond pointless trying to
measure a clonazepam dose to an accuracy of +/-0.00125mg.
I did not start out with the intention of writing a diatribe about
'microtapering'. My understanding was that it is just another titration
system. However, having read the recently patented details, the
expectation that those following Hill's method will typically take many
years to quit, and noting the many errors contained with the
patent/method, I thought I should detail some of my objections. I wish to
make clear that members are free to discuss Hill's method (irrespective of
my feelings on the matter), but should expect attempts at 'promotion' of
the method to be met with strong rebuttals. The basics of Hill's method
are hackneyed, and some of the specifics flawed, pointless, or even
dangerous.
